Terms of Service

In effect from 2 October 2026 · version 2026-10-02

The short version

Building a site is free and you can download it and host it anywhere, permanently, at no cost. Publishing it on our hosting costs $30 a month. You own everything you write and everything the service generates for you. If you cancel, your hosted site comes offline after a short grace period, but nothing is deleted and you can always take it with you.

This summary is here to be useful, not to be the agreement. The sections below are.

1. Who you are agreeing with

CosmicBuilt is operated by Cosmic LLC, a limited liability company formed in Wisconsin, United States. In this document “we”, “us” and “our” mean Cosmic LLC, and “you” means the person or business using the service.

By creating an account you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. You are asked to agree explicitly when you sign up, and we record which version you agreed to.

2. What the service does

You describe your business in plain words. We use that description to generate a complete website — pages, written copy, layout and a working contact form. You change it by typing what you want different, and the site is rewritten.

You can look at the result privately before deciding anything. Nothing is published until you choose to publish it.

3. Your account

You need an account to use the service. You are responsible for keeping your password to yourself and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to it.

You must be old enough to enter into a contract where you live, and if you are signing up on behalf of a business you must be authorised to agree to these terms for it. One person may hold one free account.

4. The free tier

Without paying anything, you get:

  • A website generated from your description.
  • 25 edits for that site. The first build counts as one of them.
  • A private preview, so you can see the whole site before deciding anything.
  • The finished site as a folder of files you can download and host anywhere, with a guide for doing it. This is free permanently, on every plan, and is not time-limited.
  • Payment buttons, so your site can take money.
  • Enquiries from your contact form delivered to your dashboard — including when you host the site yourself, at no cost.
  • One site per free account.

5. Publishing and paid hosting

Publishing a site on our hosting requires a paid subscription. It costs $30 per month and adds: we publish and host the site, you can point your own domain at it, you get 100 edits each month, and you can have as many sites as you like.

The subscription is month to month. There is no minimum term and no contract length. It renews automatically until you cancel.

You do not need the subscription to have a website on the internet. You can download your site for free and host it yourself, and your contact form will still deliver enquiries to your dashboard.

6. Edits and what counts as one

An edit is one instruction that changes your site. The first build counts as an edit. Asking a question that changes nothing does not count. The number you have left is shown in the editor from the start, not sprung on you when it runs out.

If you run out on the free tier you can buy 25 more for $10. That is a one-time purchase for the site that ran out: it does not start a subscription and does not renew. You can also subscribe, or download what you have and carry on elsewhere. Running out is never a dead end.

Subscription edits are allotted per billing period and do not roll over into the next one.

7. What happens if you cancel

You can cancel in the app at any time. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for — you keep what you paid for until then.

After that:

  • Your hosted site comes offline. Not immediately: there is a grace period after the subscription lapses, and we email you before anything is taken down.
  • Nothing is deleted. Your pages, your edits and your enquiries stay in your account.
  • Subscribing again puts the site back.
  • You can download the complete site at any point, including after it has come offline.

We do not refund partial months. If something on our side went wrong, write to us and we will deal with it properly rather than pointing at this sentence.

8. Your content is yours

You own what you put in and what comes out: your description, your text, your photos, and the site generated from them. We claim no ownership of any of it.

To run the service we need your permission to do the obvious things with that content: store it, process it, send it to the providers listed in the Privacy Policy in order to generate and host your site, and publish it publicly when you ask us to. That permission exists only so we can provide the service to you, and it ends when you remove the content or close your account.

You are responsible for having the right to use what you upload — in particular photographs and logos. Do not upload things that are not yours to use.

9. Generated content, and why you must read it

Your site is written by an AI model from your description. It can be wrong. It can phrase something in a way you would not, describe a service slightly differently from how you offer it, or omit something you consider important.

You are responsible for reading your site before publishing it and for everything it says once published — particularly prices, qualifications, licence numbers, guarantees, insurance claims, and anything a customer might rely on. The service is built to avoid inventing facts about your business, and it is not a substitute for you checking.

We do not guarantee that generated content is unique, and we make no promise about how your site will rank in search engines or how many enquiries it will produce.

10. What you may not use it for

You agree not to use CosmicBuilt to:

  • Break the law, or help anyone else do so.
  • Publish a site that impersonates someone else, or that misrepresents who you are, what you are licensed to do, or what you are selling.
  • Publish malware, phishing pages, or anything designed to deceive a visitor.
  • Send unsolicited bulk email, or use the contact form or reset email as a way of sending mail to people who did not ask for it.
  • Attack the service or get around its limits — including the edit allowance, the rate limits, and the requirement to subscribe in order to publish.
  • Resell the service as if it were your own.

If you do these things we may suspend or close your account. Where it is reasonable to warn you first, we will.

11. Taking your site with you

You can download your complete site as files, free, on any plan, at any time — including after cancelling. We do this because a website you cannot leave with is a website you do not really own, and we would rather earn the subscription than trap you in it.

Download links are generated on request and expire after a short time; you can simply request another. Self-hosting is your responsibility once the files are yours, and your contact form will keep delivering enquiries to your dashboard.

12. Domains we register for you

If you buy a domain name through us, the domain is registered in your name, not ours. You are the registrant of record. We set it up, point it at your site, and renew it for you, but it is your property and you can take it elsewhere.

To register it we have to give the registrar and the domain registry your name, address, telephone number and email address. That is a requirement of the organisation that runs domain names, not a choice of ours, and you must keep those details accurate — knowingly wrong details are grounds for the domain being cancelled. You will be asked to confirm your email address; if you do not, the registry suspends the domain. Every company that handles this data is listed in the Privacy Policy.

  • A registration cannot be refunded once it is placed. The registry has taken the money and the name is yours; there is nothing to give back. If the registration itself fails, you are refunded in full automatically.
  • The price is per year and it is not fixed forever. We charge $18 a year, which is close to what it costs us. Domain registries raise their own prices, and when they do, ours follows. We will tell you before a renewal costs more than the last one.
  • You cannot move a domain for the first 60 days. That is a rule of the domain system that applies after any new registration and after a change of owner. Nobody can waive it, including us.
  • After that, leaving is one click. The transfer code is in your dashboard whenever you want it, free, with nothing to ask us for.

If your card fails near a renewal, we will cover one renewal — once per domain. Losing the domain your business trades under because a card expired is out of all proportion to the amount of money involved, so the first time it happens we pay for the year ourselves and tell you. This happens once per domain and is not a commitment to do it again. If payment is still failing at the next renewal, the domain will expire on its expiry date. We will have warned you more than once by then, and after a domain expires it can be registered by anybody — getting it back is neither guaranteed nor cheap.

If you cancel your subscription, a domain you have paid for stays registered to you until its expiry date. It is yours; it is not part of the hosting.

13. Availability, and the service being provided as-is

We work to keep CosmicBuilt available and your published sites online, but we do not promise any particular uptime. The service depends on third-party providers — hosting, databases, an AI provider, a payment processor, an email provider — and their outages become ours.

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will produce any particular commercial result.

This is a young product. Some parts of it have not been exercised at the scale you might assume. We would rather say so here than imply otherwise.

14. Limits on what we owe you

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost business, lost enquiries, or lost or corrupted data.

Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty US dollars.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply to you only as far as that jurisdiction permits. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Keep your own copy. The download exists partly for this reason, and it is free.

15. Ending the agreement

You can stop using the service and close your account whenever you like. Write to support@cosmicbuilt.com to have your account and data deleted; see the Privacy Policy for what that involves.

We may suspend or close your account if you breach these terms, if we are required to, or if we stop offering the service. If we stop offering the service we will give you reasonable notice and time to download your sites.

16. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms as the product changes. Each revision has a version, shown at the top of this page, and we record which version you agreed to when you signed up.

For material changes we will tell you — by email or in the app — before they take effect, and give you the chance to stop using the service if you do not agree. Continuing to use CosmicBuilt after a change takes effect means you accept the new version.

17. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Wisconsin, and you and we each consent to those courts.

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. Our not enforcing something straight away does not mean we have given up the right to.

18. Getting in touch

Questions about any of this go to support@cosmicbuilt.com. A real person reads it.
